POLICY STATEMENT
AW Performance Hockey is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We recognise our responsibility to ensure that all participants are protected from harm and able to train in a safe, supportive and positive environment.
This policy is guided by UK safeguarding principles and best practice, including those set out by NSPCC and national governing bodies.

• Treating all participants with respect and dignity
• Ensuring safeguarding is at the forefront of all coaching activity
• Responding promptly and appropriately to any concerns
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Safeguarding Lead (Aiden Wren) is responsible for:
• Managing safeguarding concerns and disclosures
• Ensuring appropriate action is taken where required
• Maintaining confidentiality where appropriate
• Liaising with external agencies if necessary
All coaches and staff are responsible for:
• Acting in accordance with this policy
• Maintaining professional boundaries
• Creating a safe and supportive environment
• Reporting any concerns immediately
COACHING STANDARDS
All coaches will:
• Prioritise the welfare of players over performance outcomes
• Behave in a professional and appropriate manner at all times
• Never engage in any form of bullying, abuse or discrimination
• Avoid situations where they are alone with a player where possible
PLAYER WELFARE & CONDUCT
AW Performance Hockey operates a clear standard of behaviour to ensure a positive and respectful environment for all.
• Players must treat teammates, coaches and staff with respect at all times
• Any form of negative, disruptive or inappropriate behaviour will not be accepted
• This includes mean-spirited behaviour, disrespectful language or actions towards others
Players will receive one clear warning for behaviour that does not meet these standards.
If behaviour continues, the player will be asked to leave the session and may be removed from the programme.
REPORTING CONCERNS
All safeguarding concerns will be taken seriously.

Where appropriate, concerns may be referred to external agencies in line with UK safeguarding procedures.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact emergency services on 999.
PHOTOGRAPHY & SOCIAL MEDIA
Photos and videos may be taken during sessions for promotional purposes. These will always be used appropriately and respectfully.
Parents/guardians should inform AW Performance Hockey if they do not wish their child to be included.
RECRUITMENT & SAFER WORKING PRACTICE
AW Performance Hockey is committed to safer recruitment practices. Where applicable, coaches will be appropriately vetted in line with UK safeguarding expectations, including PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) checks.
POLICY REVIEW
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains up to date with current UK safeguarding guidance and best practice.
