Our Story - The Beginning

Growing up in Dundee, where there were no additional coaching opportunities for kids, made it challenging for many to reach their goals. We decided to change that!

Thus, the AWP Academies were born. Our Dundee squad had an extremely successful run, with most members achieving their goals of joining their respective regional squads or entering the Brave system.

Beyond performance, the most rewarding aspect was the values instilled in the group, both on and off the pitch, leading to strong friendships formed outside of hockey.

In September 2022, we launched our Edinburgh Performance Academies with just 5 original members training at MES. We are thrilled to announce that we've grown to 30 weekly attendees and are looking to expand further.

Our academy members not only train together but also have opportunities to participate in indoor and outdoor friendlies, indoor tournaments, and summer slam events.

2024 has been an incredible year for us!

We've expanded from hosting 2 camps to 7 per year, including our AllStars Camps, Elite Camps, and Indoor Camps.

Additionally, we've introduced a YoungStars weekly session, reaching our maximum capacity of 70 weekly attendees, alongside our indoor weekly sessions.

We’ve grown steadily over the years, and now is the time for us to focus on perfecting our approach and unlocking our full growth potential.

Our goal is to incorporate education on plyometrics, injury prevention, and nutrition for both parents and players. 

We are proud of our participants' achievements, with many making district and national squads, and we aim to continue this success.

Above all, we want the kids to enjoy their hockey experience. We believe the most valuable part of our program is the friendships and connections formed during our sessions. Our mission is to empower each athlete to become the best version of themselves.
